In 2020, The Ranch Mine got a unique request – a new modern home to replace a ranch house in Phoenix's Arcadia neighbourhood. The twist? It was meant to be a surprise for the wife, as the couple had started and stopped twice with other architects. With three kids and outgrowing their old place, they needed something special. Despite the risks, the surprise was a hit. They finally got their dream home: a two-story, multigenerational house that matched their personalities and lifestyle.

The property features a main house for the family and a wheelchair-accessible guest house for the grandparents. The main house boasts black brick volumes with sliding glass doors opening to the yards on the first floor, and a white stucco box design on the second floor. 

Wood accents highlight the home's front door and the pocketing glass doors leading to the front and back yards. The first floor features the main living areas, primary suite, guest bedroom, and gym. Upstairs, you'll find all the kids' bedrooms, a den, homework area, and laundry room. The detached guest house sits on the east side of the backyard, forming a courtyard around the existing pool that was preserved.

Natural light floods the area through strategically placed windows, highlighting the room's airy feel. A striking, geometric chandelier hangs above the dining area, adding a touch of modern sophistication. The integration of greenery through a large, elegant vase of branches brings a hint of nature indoors, enhancing the overall aesthetic. This kitchen design perfectly balances style and practicality, making it an ideal space for both everyday living and entertaining. Its seamless blend of form and function exemplifies The Ranch Mine's innovative approach to contemporary home design.
